Part 1

High up in Cloudsdale lived a darling little pegasus named Celadon Blaze. With a fair green coat and a bright red mane, a twinkle in her deep blue eyes greeted all her friends with joy. She loved to play and she played by hiding. Hide and seek is what she loved and played most.

The night sky was Celadon’s care and she blazed a dance of aurora lights to the north, fleetingly and teasing the nocturnal creatures. So splendid was her work, but alas few ponies ever viewed its grandeur. Worst still the nightly duties left her with hardly any playmates to seek her whilst hiding.

One clear crisp night Celadon was weaving a green and red swirl when suddenly a voice called to her.

“Fancy moves, fair pegasus, but I bet I can spin those tighter!”

Startled, Celadon swung round to have a look about. Before her eyes were a pair of fire-red eyes set in a golden crown.

“The names Spin Storm,” greeted the hippogriff.

Celadon was too stunned to reply; caught off guard and with such a rare sight as a creature half griffon, half pony. The hippogriff raced past her into the aurora and began to spin faster and faster. Spinning and spinning so fast and faster still. The poor pegasus felt as though she was whirling about as she watched the amazing display.

The hippogriff then cried out a victorious, “ha ha!” He had stopped abruptly and now hovered at the far end of a mighty vortex in the night sky. But in a second it vanished, blackness returned, and the stars drifted by apathetically.

“Oops,” the hippogriff offered softly.

“It’s ok, Spin Storm, auroras are simply very delicate,” Celadon said with a comforting smile. “My name is Celadon Blaze, but you can call me Celadon. It’s so very nice to meet you.”

“Oh and it’s a pleasure to meet you, Celadon! Call me Spinner.”

From then on, night after night, the two new friends met to play and to hide and to seek.
